BR 1-05: The Elves and the Shoemaker

Nobody could go past his workshop without looking in. (p. 7)

Many people has read this story. I like this story. I think it is heart-warming story. The shoemaker and his wife are amiable and conscientious. I like the shoemaker's diligence, so I was worried when shoe seller who sells cheap shoes appeared. People want to buy cheap one, indeed, but cheap one is fragile and inferior. The shoe seller is very sly. I don't like him. However, the happiness is granted on a thing doing a proper act. Elves are good helper for the shoemaker.

By the way, I have a fundamental question about elves. Why they make shoes? Do they like making shoes? I don't see into about it… Finally, this story greeted happy end. I am relieved.
